Major Changes

  • We've added a MacOS build!
  • Added "not yet examined" styling to the Artifact and Container sparkles!
    • Artifacts that have not yet been viewed are now tinted yellow, and will turn grey once they've been viewed at least once
    • Containers won't turn grey until all the artifacts within them have been examined
  • New assets and improvements to several existing assets!
    • Several letters now have images for the house sigils in the footers rather than "<THING> SIGIL"
    • Replace "{Blurry Name}" placeholder text in the welcome letter with a "smudged ink" asset
    • Improved visibility of the hands of several of the clock face symbol-clues
    • Fixed the centering in the asset for the "heart" symbol-clue
  • Added keyboard shortcuts!
    • ESC can be used to close any of the overlay-style views (book, container, artifact, etc.)
    • Space can be used to open/close the book
    • O can be used when in-game to open the options menu (hit some tricky double-binding issues when I tried to put this on ESC)
    • Also added info about the keyboard controls to the Options menu
  • Added icons to the BookView sort buttons and various styling improvements for those buttons
  • Add clickable "Leroy" to the the castle exterior scene for re-opening the welcome letter
  • Added a "SleepingCastleSolutions" pdf to the Itch page with screencaps of the filled-in puzzle pages
    • We're hoping to add a proper hint system in future, but wanted to at least share the solutions in the meantime for anyone that gets stuck


Minor Changes

  • Removed the "TesterButton" from the Options view. It was a dev artifact and did nothing.
  • Added tooltips to the clue sorting buttons in the book view
  • Adjust the book button's positioning a bit to the left, so it doesn't overlap the stage when hovered
  • Added "reverb_kick" sfx when starting a new game. Lends a nice weight to the opening :)
  • Added artifact title and description to the welcome letter
  • Replace game icon asset with a 512x512 version for slightly better scaling
  • Improved the input focus behavior in the Options menu. Tab-focusing and keyboard navigation in the Options should as-expected now.
  • Updated the Petriform line on the credits view to be a clickable link to their BandCamp. Go check out their other amazing releases!
  • The in-game options button is now hidden when the Options menu is opened. This is mainly just an awful hack to prevent multiple instances of the Options menu being opened using the keyboard shortcut, but let's call it a feature.
  • Internal project cleanup. Removed a bunch of unused assets and dead code


Coming Soon

  • Petriform has been cooking up some new aural amazingness that only barely didn't make it into this build D:
  • We're getting the new music and sfx implemented asap though and will hopefully release the next version in the next few days, alongside a retrospective blog post from our team lead :)
